About the event
For over 20 years, Ross Heastings has been studying and creating music professionally. His first gig was a performance at the AJ Polumbo Center at the age of 13 year old with his aunt for 5,000 people. Â nbd. Â Â A high aptitude for musical interpretation combined with an extensive and diverse background paint an immensely unique, diverse musical portrait. Â Currently, his musical projects include a series of compositions for solo classical guitar (Stages of Grief), a film score (The Hum), a jazz trio (The Keystone 3), an EP for 8 String guitar, commissioned studio sessions with local and regional singer/songwriters, and a private teaching practice of over 20 aspiring students.Â
Many aspects have shaped Ross’ sound and musical offerings.  For two decades, Ross has fulfilled the role of lead guitarist.  The most recent band, Talkers, an indie/rock/psychedelic collaboration, released two full-length albums, 3 music videos and booking regional tours in the east coast area (Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Booklyn, NY) under the direction of songwriter Caleb Pogyor. Â
The musical characteristics of Ross’ playing are deep and varied depending on the creative setting and purpose.  A few band influences include, The Dear Hunter, Yes, Muse, Guns 'n' Roses, Third Eye Blind, and Jellyfish. Classical influences (Bach, Ives, Shöenberg, Tarrega, Holst, Whitaker) along with jazz giants (Jonathan Kriesberg, Joe Pass, Pat Metheny) and even modern-style rock guitarists (Tosin Abasi, Nels Cline, Greg Howe, Guthrie Govan, Plini) are sources of inspiration.   Such a vast vocabulary keeps his creation process fresh and exciting to listeners.
