About the event

The Lost Causes started in the Spring of 2022 as a  long-time-coming Appalachian-folk project started by Set DiBello  (banjo/guitar/vocals) and Dan Miller (bass/cello/vocals). Britt Haefeli  (vocals), Jack Hill (mandolin/vocals), and David Powell (guitar/vocals)  joined soon after, rounding out their unique sound. They like to keep it  rowdy and hope you find something you connect to in their songs,  whether it’s that you “don’t know nothing at all” or you feel that  “everything works out in its own way”. Their  first single, “Own Way”, dropped on December 22nd, 2023 and was  featured on Pittsburgh’s own NPR station, WYEP, as an “Artist of the  Week” feature during the week of January 8th, 2024. Their first  full-length album, “The Lost Causes”, was released on January 12th,  2023. The album’s overarching theme is that of “Optimistic Nihilism” -  that nothing matters and therefore everything matters. The  Lost Causes are joined by studio/touring musicians Chris Wood (Keys),  Brenden Beaver (percussion), and Mark DeCesare (woodwinds).
